“Achrazat Garin” – Declaration of the Garin — RENAMED!
By; Jackie Sharpe
Tonight, in an amazing display of talent, creativity, friendship, teamwork, excitement and “energy,” our 32 Garin kids danced, sang, laughed, entertained their audience and at the end of the performance with their final song, they RENAMED THEIR GARIN! They will now proudly be known as Garin GaMaL. “Gamal” means camel – the mascot of kibbutz Nir Yitzhak is a camel and I was told that our kids don’t drink a lot of water, so they are all like camels…but the acronym is also: Garin Malachai L‘Olam (Garin Angels of the World).
After welcoming and opening remarks from Ilan, Ela, Saar, and Hait, we heard a prerecorded message from Adam and Amit’s mothers – Lori and Zivi who delivered an emotional and touching message on behalf of all the parents.
Alexi Rosenfeld added his expertise in the area of video making and created the intro videos for each segment of tonight’s show. He also created a video montage that traced their journey from JFK to the present. (All these will be available for you to see online shortly.)
Nothing I write here will do justice to the incredible message our 32 kids delivered tonight about their first weeks in Israel, life on the kibbutz, their involvement in Garin Tzabar and their daily and weekly routines as they prepare to become “new IDF soldiers.” BUT THE VIDEO WILL TELL ALL! (Alexi is editing it for us and as soon as he can it will be uploaded and I will send out the link.)
In the meantime photos from tonight’s event can be found at the usual place:
A special thank you to Ela, Ilan, Saar and Hadar for their dedication and commitment to our kids and tonight’s success.
GO GARIN GAMAL!!!!
